Dr. Catherine "Cat" Foreman is originally from Central Illinois. She came by her career naturally, as both of her parents have been involved in the equine industry since long before she was born. Her father, Dr. Jon Foreman, is an internationally recognized equine internist, and is part of the equine faculty at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Her mother, Terri, is a career hunter/jumper trainer, competing from Virginia to Colorado before establishing her base in St. Joseph, IL. Dr. Foreman was on the back of a pony before she could walk or talk, and never turned back. She grew up showing in the hunter/jumper world, as well as in the United States Pony Club, graduating as a traditional C-3. Dr. Foreman attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL for her BA in biology before receiving her DVM from the University of Illinois in 2016, where she worked part time in the equine treadmill research laboratory during veterinary school.
Dr. Foreman completed her post-graduate training at Southern Equine Service, a full service equine hospital in the eventing mecca of Aiken, South Carolina. The elite caseload in Aiken allowed Dr. Foreman to train in sports medicine procedures on some of the country's best athletes. In addition, the diverse population of horses near Aiken contributed to a well rounded background in primary care procedures, as well as a strong base in reproduction.
Dr. Yates and Dr. Foreman have a connection dating back to 2004, when Dr. Yates was a student of Dr. Jon Foreman in vet school, and Terri Foreman was Dr. Yates's trainer! That acquaintance led to Dr. Foreman joining Dr. Yates for externships for 3 of her 4 years in school. It was then a natural progression for Dr. Yates to hire Dr. Foreman to join her in Indianapolis at the conclusion of Dr. Foreman's internship in 2017.
Dr. Foreman and her husband live on the west side of Indianapolis. She continues to compete in the amateur jumper classes locally.
