Services
Through continuing education, years of experience, and her own horsemanship, Dr. Yates takes a holistic approach to diagnosing and treating every horse in her care. She incorporates the latest technology alongside proven techniques to create a clear, systematic path to recovery tailored to each individual horse.

Pre-Purchase Exams
A thorough pre-purchase exam includes a full medical evaluation assessing heart, lungs, eyes, oral health, neurological function, and overall soundness through flexion tests and gait analysis. Imaging, such as radiographs and ultrasound, is tailored to the horse and the buyer’s goals to support an informed decision.

Chiropractic Adjustments
Veterinary chiropractic involves manual therapy and spinal manipulation to support overall comfort in horses. Dr. Yates has been a certified chiropractor since 2011 and is experienced in providing these treatments to improve mobility and performance.

Lameness Evaluations
A comprehensive lameness evaluation combines detailed static assessments, examining musculoskeletal, neurological, and structural factors, with dynamic observation on the lunge and under saddle to accurately identify the issue. Once localized, diagnostic blocks or imaging, such as ultrasound, are used to confirm the diagnosis and guide treatment.

Radiography
High quality digital radiography provides immediate imaging of bone and soft tissue, including areas such as the neck and back. It allows for quick on-site assessment and is especially valuable in detecting potential issues during pre-purchase exams.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses sound waves to image both superficial and deep structures, allowing for the evaluation of tendons, muscles, and joints without invasive procedures. It is a highly valuable diagnostic tool for assessing soft tissue, especially tendons and ligaments.

Shockwave Therapy
This noninvasive therapy uses high-energy sound waves to reduce pain and stimulate healing in tissues, making it effective for bone inflammation, osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, and chronic wounds. The most common applications in equine medicine are tendon/ligament injuries and back pain.

Regenerative Medicine
Ultrasound-guided therapy allows for precise treatment of tendon/ligament injuries and joints within the neck and back. Regenerative therapies offered include amnion treatments, such as Strydaflex and Renovo®, and Pro-Stride® (PRP and IRAP).

Consultations
Dr. Yates consults in many capacities; including as an expert witness in legal cases, a case coordinator in complex medical conditions, and in international purchase exams. She also offers second opinion evaluations, providing access to her veterinary expertise remotely. She can collaborate with the client’s local veterinarian to gather imaging or video and then deliver detailed analysis, including review of dynamic exams when an on-site visit isn’t feasible.

Horse Show Veterinarian
Dr. Yates is available to work multiple types of shows in many capacities. For national level shows (USEF/AQHA), she is available to work as a treating or testing veterinarian. For international (FEI) shows, Dr. Yates is credentialed in the Olympic disciplines of dressage, eventing and jumping. She is able to officiate as a Permitted Treating Veterinarian (PTV), a Veterinary Services Manager (VSM) and a Veterinary Delegate (VD).

Boutique Rehabilitation Services
Occasionally Dr. Yates will accept a rehabilitation case at her personal 10 acre farm in Ocala. Inquire for more details and to see if your horse is a candidate.
